Art Gallery is located in a classical style building dated back to the first half of the XIX century, which is listed as an architect monument and is located at the foot of the Great Mithridates staircase. After the restoration of the building on May 7, 1985, on the eve of the 40th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany, the art exhibition “Adzhimushkay.1942” was opened. The author of the paintings is an Honored Artist of the USSR, a member of the Artist’s Studio named after M.B. Grekov (Moscow) N. J. But.

The Art Gallery is the main exhibition hall of the Reserve with different exhibitions of picturesque ancient traditions, classical sculpture, iconography. One of the permanent exhibitions is “Christian monuments of Kerch”, which includes the works of iconography, archaeological findings of early medieval times, a diorama “Church of St. John the Baptist” – the unique exhibit that lets us see how a masterpiece of Byzantine architecture looked in the XIX century and nowadays. A copy of the mosaic “Christ Pantocrator» (XII century) from the Vatican St. Peter’s Cathedral – a gift of the Pope – John Paul II to the first and the last Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev completes the exhibition.

Currently, the Art Gallery has a wide profile and plays a unique role among the other art museums – to represent the art of Kerch, its culture from antiquity to the present day.
